MD604392 conical filter. $6 Snaps into the inlet nipple of the factory fuel pump. It has been deleted but you might be able to find one.
Forcing this filter into the pump, when USED, the E8000 pump........you will shave nylon from it and it will go straight into your new fuel pump.
You would be installing a nearly 20 year old peice of nylon into your fuel pump.
NOT RECOMMENDED!!

This is the Airtex E8000 pump. Many parts stores sell this pump under differant names. Auto Zone sells it as "Master" E8000. $95.99 Checker does as well.
NOT RECOMMENDED!!
Napa sells it as 2P70199. Napa tells me the 2 means it is a second line part with the internals made cheaper overseas. $98.99
NOT RECOMMENDED!!

As you can see, the conical filter ALMOST fits. You could force it in but you will shave some nylon off! If you choose to do that, make sure you blow out the nipple before installing it on the pump. That nylon could cause the pump to fail.
My thought: TRASH IT! Go with my 12mm in-out filter! !
"Why is the Nippon & Bosch so FAT?"
Cause....it has a ALUMINUM SLEEVE over the REAL MOTOR to transfer HEAT much FASTER.....same as the Bosch & Nippon. Remember this... your FUEL PUMP is RUNNING every SECOND the engine is RUNNING!
Napa sells it as 2P70199. Napa tells me the 2 means it is a second line part with the internals made cheaper overseas. $98.99
NOT RECOMMENDED!!
Let's discuss BOSCH FUEL PUMPS.
The Bosch FAT-BOY vs the NEW Walbro GSL-392, 255lph.
Yep...it got SMALLER! The decision is your's to make.
VERY RECOMMENDED!!

QUESTION: "Do I NEED a RELAY to provide currant to an ACC that only draws 10 amps?" NO........you don't. Using a MARINE 35 amp toggle switch is more than TRIPLE of what is needed and would be my suggestion on SOME applications. Relays are more of a 'safety function.'
QUESTION: "Do I NEED a WIRE larger than 14 gage?"
NO....you don't. lenght comes into the equation. 14 gage can pass 30 amps (inside the body..less heat) but 12 gage is......'insurance' and 10 gage.....kinda OVERWHELM via HUGE TERMINALS to supply currant to relays and switches.
QUESTION: "Can I build a fuel pump currant system that switches GROUNDS instead of POSITIVE?" Yes........you can. Same as MANY EURO-TRASH vehicles.....and....your 20 amp Starquest cooling fans. Have you noticed on Bosch fuel pumps.....which TERMINAL IS LARGER?
QUESTION: "Can you explain some 'safety features'"? Yes....just one for now. HARD-HIT front-end collision with FULL TIME POSITIVE to the cooling fans= odds are you just SHORTED your IGN. FUSE LINK (via a major short, crushed fan motors)=SHUT DOWN ECU, FUEL PUMP, BIG-GUN STEREO AMPS, etc etc.
Bosch w/install kit $150 (on sale now)
In-tank 12mm strainer filter $12
In-line 12mm filter $25
Choice fuel tanks $275

"Where is the fuel pump relay?" Remove this panel from under the glove box AND the right hand 'kick panel'. (not pictured)

Note the ground wire for the SHIELD that surrounds the O2 sensor wire. It's called........"GROUNDED SHIELD SIGNAL WIRE." You don't want INTERFERANCE SIGNALS REACHING YOUR ECU!!! =
DON'T ADD ANOTHER GROUND TO THIS SCREW!!!
Your O2 signal wire is MOVED AWAY from the MAIN HARNESS so there is NO INTERFERANCE being deliverd to your ECU!

A 90* phillips screwdriver is about the only way to remove the screw that retains the relay.

ECI control relay (fuel pump) has black X on it. Note the blower motor ground to the right.
Why da frick is it tucked way-up in there? Can you GUESS......what happens when you are REAR-ENDED.......HARD! Do you know the words: CONTROLLED-COLLISION.......CRUMPLE-ZONE?
Have you seen THIS MOVIE?
In a nut-shell, it's about a tailight that caused a FUEL TANK EXPLOSION when the LH turn signal was on....while SLAMED from the rear.
You STILL wanna move a FUEL PUMP RELAY back there......in HARMS-WAY

Forcing these SQUARE CORNER CLIPS on is a DEATH SENTANCE to a INJECTOR!

INTRODUCING "PQ's SUPER CLIPS 1000"!
...my design HAS ROUNDED CORNERS and fits like a NITRIDE GLOVE!
Comes with DIELECTRIC GREASE........
.....one is marked BLUE and the other BLACK. HEAT SHRINK included.....sold in a 2 pack with the harness holder....for $37 shipped!
NOTE THE ROUNDED CORNERS IN THE CENTER SECTION! If not ROUNDED...you can BREAK the INJECTOR PLASTIC TOP from FORCING IT ON!!
Have you ever noticed the build-up on the negative battery cable over time? Especially on an old battery? Your injectors clips are where?......just DOWN WIND.
AND YOU SHOULD NEVER SOLDER-ON THESE TERMINALS!! Way too much vibration, and new ones come with the wires attached anyway! |

Requires TWO.......19mm (7/8") wrenchs to remove, top & bottom 'banjo-bolts'. New copper gaskets X4......way to fly!
OEM Mitsu high pressure fuel filter MB504732 $42 shipped w/4 copper gaskets.
I HAVE REBUILT STARQUEST HOSES IN STOCK & READY TO SHIP. SS OR HIGH PRESSURE RUBBER!!!! We also have OIL COOLER HOSES & P/S HOSES!!
Testing VOLUME of your fuel pump? Pretty simple!
And.....you can test it with the tank removed too.

I took apart a Mitsu Nippon fuel pump. Note the check valve in the outlet fitting.
Also note it's SIZE, quite smaller than the 8mm fuel line.

And it's even smaller on the inside. .150 or 5/32. This is true of alot of pumps.
Increasing the fuel line size will have no performance effect unless you have a MUCH LARGER ENGINE......like a V8.

I can rebuild the hoses with Stainless Steel in the engine bay if you like. Rubber hoses $18 each and SS hose $39. |
